The IceMen have won both previous meetings this season, including a 2-0 shutout this past Tuesday. Mallards forward Brandon Marino enters the weekend leading the CHL in both Goals (24) and Points (50), and Eric Giosa is 5th in the league in Points (47). Quad City netminder David Brown has surrendered just 6 goals in his last 4 starts. The Mallards are 0-for-12 on power-plays against the IceMen this season. Brian Bicek has scored 4 of Evansville's 7 goals against Quad City this season. Sun. Notes: The Oilers (17-14-3) are currently in 5th place in the Berry Conference, just 2 points out of the 4th and final playoff spot. They are just 1-5-1 in their last 7 games. Offensively, Tulsa's best players are rookies Dylan Clarke (15 goals and 38 points) and Mike Ullrich (16 goals and 34 points). They have 5 other active players (3 forwards and 2 defensemen) with at least 20 points, so there's some pretty good balance there. The Oilers have been whistled for just 13 Major penalties all season, fewest in the CHL. (The IceMen have committed 42 Majors.) Tulsa has won 5 games when trailing after 2 periods, the most in the league. This game was originally scheduled for January 13, but was moved to make room for a UE Men's Basketball game. (The Aces lost 69-60 to Drake, btw.) The IceMen will visit Tulsa twice in February, but this is the Oilers' first and only trip to Evansville this season. Tue. Evansville leads the season series 2-0-1; two of the three games have been decided in Overtime. Overall, the Mavs have won 4 straight and 8 of their last 9 games. Missouri's leader is last season's CHL MVP and scoring champion, Sebastien Thinel, who is again among the league's leaders with 33 assists (2nd) and 45 points (6th). Thinel is currently riding a 7-game point streak. Mavs goaltender Charlie Effinger, who has not seen action against the IceMen yet this season, has a sparkling .920 SV%. Missouri is a tremendous 9-1-3 in one-goal games. Looked sloppy at times and gave up a lot of shots, but it says a lot about this team when a "bad night" results in a 3-0 win. Gillis is just on fire right now. Back-to-back blankings of the Ducks, and his shutout streak is now at 159:27. (Not sure, but I believe that's got to be a franchise record.) He's going to make Kromm's goaltending decisions very difficult when PO returns. Good problem to have though. For those who didn't hear, the long delay early in the game was due to a roster snafu. O'Connor was supposed to be scratched, but Kromm accidentally listed him on the official lineup card. That in itself isn't a big deal. The problem was, Kromm also mistakenly left off John Ronan. He clearly meant to list Ronan and leave OC off, but did the opposite. Thus, Ronan was not eligible to play. He was immediately told to leave the bench after playing (I think) only one shift. So with OC and JR both out of the picture, we only had 8 forwards for the duration of the game. Pierce moved up to play with Bice and Lindberg, leaving Mario and Sgroi (or "Scgroi" as the organization keeps incorrectly saying) without a third for their line. Or so we thought. None other than Nick SCHNEIIIIIIIIIDERRRRRRRRR moved up and played some wing for the rest of the night. Wonder how long it's been since he played forward... One last thing: Glad to hear RRP2 again tonight. Let's hope it is indeed permanent now.

Granted I still think Sunday will be low. But an almost sold out lower bowl on a none- special night is really saying something.

The Ford Center clock only goes down to tenths, not hundredths. But any way you slice it, it was CLOSE. I initially thought it was after the horn, but video review proved me wrong. Glad to be wrong, let me tell ya! It was a weird game. Never really got a flow going because the overzealous zebra just had to assert his authority every 17 seconds. I mean, seriously...3 minors on Todd Robinson in a single period? The guy entered the game with 12 minors in 34 GAMES this season. C'mon, Harrison, put the damn whistle away and let the boys play hockey. Gillis was outstanding again. I believe the shutout streak ended at 175:14, which is very impressive. The streak was broken on a wicked top-shelf shot on a 2-on-1, which you certainly can't fault Gillis on. Then Tulsa's 2nd goal was a total fluke - wide shot bounces off of the end boards, then off of Gillis' back and into the net. Glad that didn't turn out to be the game-winner for the Oilers. Would've been a real shame for a goalie who's been so hot to lose a game on a bad-luck goal like that. BTW, how 'bout Gilly's aggressive play in the 3rd? Negated a breakaway by coming WAY out of the net, and not only did he beat the Tulsa player to the puck, but he also took him out with a beautiful Gens-style hip-check. Very nice. And almost as nice was that SICK glove save on the 2-on-1 in OT. Gillis better be the CHL Goalie of the Week again this week...

Each team shall have on its bench, or on a chair immediately beside the bench, a substitute goalkeeper who shall, at all times, be fully dressed and equipped ready to play. Except when both goalkeepers are incapacitated, no skater in the playing roster in that game shall be permitted to wear the equipment of the goalkeeper
