Well, at least we got a point on Saturday...

Friday's game was a much better overall effort than the opener. At least the team played a full 60 minutes. Really was a winnable game, but the IceMen made too many costly mistakes - punctuated by Tetrault's baffling giveaway that gave the Titans the game-winner. But he wasn't alone - in general, the team just isn't taking care of the puck, and it's resulting in too many odd-man rushes for the opposition.

I thought Madore played well in net, which isn't typically the case when a goalie gives up 4 goals. Trenton's first goal was a lucky bounce off of Matt Gens on an intended pass through the slot. Their second goal was a shot from the point that deflected off of traffic in front. Their third goal was simply a matter of solid execution on a power play. And their fourth goal was the absolute gift from Tetrault. I still don't know what he was trying to do there, but it looked like he was hellbent on hanging his goalie out to dry by giving the Titans a 2-on-0 chance.

Scary moment in the first period when Oliver Gabriel was seriously injured. He got tied up behind the net with one of the Titans, and both went down to the ice. In the process, Gabriel caught a skate blade to the back of his leg. Deep laceration, lots of blood, and apparently some muscle damage - but thankfully, it sounds like it missed his Achilles. Still, he's having surgery today and is expected to miss 2-3 months or more.

Loved the back-to-back goals in the final minute of the second period. Sonne and Shattock continue to impress. Now if we can just get the other lines going too, we might be in business...

As for Saturday...glad to see Karpowich bounce back with a solid effort. Made 33 saves on 36 shots, and 2 of the Komets' 3 goals were on the power play. Certainly would've preferred a victory, but it's hard to argue with earning a point in Fort Wayne on a Saturday night. That's always a tall order.
