ICEMEN FIGHT QUIZ ANSWERS

Question #1: Mark Cody and Jordan Lane tied for the IceMen lead with 14 fights each. Who had the next-most?
ANSWER: (C) Jordan Little
Little fought 4 times. Larocque, Surma and DiPace had 3 fights each. It's worth noting that 2 of Surma's 3 fights were against his current teammates, the Dayton Gems.

Question #2: Which one of the following players did NOT get in a fight this season?
ANSWER: (B) Nick Schneider
Schneider never dropped the gloves. Desmet fought Quad City's Shane Lovdahl, Bicek fought Quad City's Brandon Marino, and Zalasky fought Bloomington's Travis Granbois.

Question #3: Which opponent did Mark Cody fight the most?
ANSWER: (D) Quad City's Jason Kostadine
Cody dropped 'em with Kostadine 4 different times. He fought Schrock twice, and only tangled once each with Stoddard and Dowzak.

Question #4: Which opponent did Jordan Lane fight TWICE in the same game?
ANSWER: (A) Fort Wayne's Marc Rechlicz
Nobody got this one right, but Rechlicz was the only opponent masochistic enough to fight Lane twice on one night. In fact, Lane is the only IceMen player who fought the same player twice in the same game this season.

Question #5: Which of the following teams did the IceMen average the most fights-per-game against?
ANSWER: (D) Quad City
The IceMen fought the Mallards 14 times in 11 games, an average of 1.27 fights per game. The Komets were close behind, at 12 fights in 11 games (1.09 average). There were only 9 fights in 15 games against the Gems (0.60) and 4 in 8 games against the RiverKings (0.50).

Question #6: Which one of these goons DID NOT fight 3 different IceMen players this season?
ANSWER: (D) Quad City's Jason Kostadine
This one tricked everybody. Kostadine only fought Cody (4 times) and Little. McCue tangled with Lane, Little and Larocque. Dowzak went with Cody, Larocque and DiPace. Schrock fought Cody (twice), Lane and Little.

Question #7: Who is the only IceMen player who committed a NON-FIGHTING Major penalty this season?
ANSWER: (C) Jeff Christian
I knew Grimaldi would seem like the obvious choice here, but our beloved late-season acquisition Jeff Christian was actually the culprit. (Nobody guessed him.) Christian was assessed a Major for Elbowing at Fort Wayne on February 26, a game the IceMen won 5-3. (He caught Komets All-Star Frankie DeAngelis up high and DeAngelis missed 12 games as a result, but the CHL must have determined that Christian did not do it intentionally because he was not suspended.) Grimaldi was whistled for a Match Penalty for Elbowing during the pre-season, but that's not a "Major" in official terms and pre-season doesn't count in regular-season stats.

Question #8: Which of these former IceMen defensemen did fight (once) while with Evansville?
ANSWER: (B) George Bradley
Bradley dropped the mitts with Fort Wayne's Craig Cescon. Thoring, Holladay and Pence kept their noses clean while with the IceMen. But everyone guessed Holladay or Pence. Wrong!

Question #9: Which of these hated rivals never fought against the IceMen this season?
ANSWER: (A) Mississippi's Derek Landmesser
This one also fooled everyone. Nobody outside of Memphis seems to like Landmesser, but he actually went the whole season without fighting - against the IceMen or anyone else. He piled up 73 penalty minutes, 63 in the form of Minors; he also picked up a Game Misconduct for "intervening" in a brawl between the Turtles and Missouri Mavericks. Dayton's Oke fought Surma, Quad City's Riddle exchanged pleasantries with both Cody and Lane, and the Komets' Phillips engaged in fisticuffs with Cody.

Question #10: Which Mallard did Nicklas Lindberg fight?
ANSWER: (B) Eric Giosa
This is the only question that more than 2 people got correct. (Only 3 did though.) Giosa claims that he snapped after Lindberg slashed him on a face-off, injuring his hand and eventually costing him a few weeks of action. Lindberg denies slashing him and reasons that the hand injury was the result of punching his helmet several times during the fight. Sounds plausible to me!

ICEMEN FIGHT QUIZ RESULTS

Apparently, this was harder than I anticipated. With 4 choices for each question, simple odds would indicate that everyone would get at least 2 or 3 right. And sadly, 3 was the BEST score.

Half of the 10 questions stumped all 5 people. With 50 total guesses, there were only 9 (yes NINE) correct answers given.

Here are the results:
3 - Shadow
2 - Bandit and Gonzo
1 - Gibbie and TitusDan

Y'all are pathetic. And I mean that in a good way. smiley: happy
